The relationship developed with our builder thus far has been quite
pleasant. Particularly, two areas of the pre building process have been made quite easy with his help. First, being the development and approval of a land disturbance plan. Several details were required during the "permitting" stage of the process, as our property is on the Chattahoochee River. All details were handled in a timely manner by Mr. Black. He scheduled the surveyors and arranged the other necessary details to get all paperwork in order before going to the required county board meeting. My husband attended the hearing with Mr. Black where everything was approved. My father, whose property adjoins ours, went through this same process without the benefit of a builder and had nothing pleasant to say of his experience.
Secondly, Mr. Black was helpful in recommending and working with our designer. He was flexible enough to attend each meeting between the designer, my husband, and myself. His input was invaluable to both me and the designer regarding the feasibility of specific design ideas. He was helpful in projecting building costs of specific materials as they were being drawn into our design. It was great walking through the design process with my builder right there to give input and feedback before the final drawings were complete.
Overall, I am quite pleased with our choice of builder. Through his investment of time, we have developed a personal relationship, which seems to be making the whole process enjoyable. His careful attention to the details, both the ones I worry over and the more technical things I don't understand, assure me that we will have a home we can be proud of.
Sincerely,
Mike & T.G. Nance, 1-15-04
