Our Process

At R.E. Black Custom Homes we make an extra effort to only work with the most reliable materials. Below are several examples of the extra steps that we take to ensure the quality of your custom home.

  Gyp-crete

We use a light-weight concrete product called "Gyp-crete." This product is far superior to the standard cement board. It's a seamless, self-leveling product that also works as an excellent sound deadening

application. It can be poured anywhere from 3/4" to 1-1/2" thick compared to 1/2" thick cement board. There will never be any bounce in the floor system and thus no cracked tile joints.

  Floor Joists

We route all wiring, duct-work, plumbing, etc. inside the floor system to obtain maximum ceiling heights when finishing terrace levels. Below are example images:

No-Rot load-bearing Columns and exterior Hand Railings

These images show some of the no-rot load-bearing columns and exterior hand railings made of composite materials that we use. Depending on the style of home there are many variations and sizes to choose from.

  Steel Decks

This shows how we prefer constructing steel decks instead of wood. Steel gives us the ability to pour a concrete slab that we can then install either stone or brick pavers on top of. The bottom of the deck then becomes a finished ceiling as shown because everything is now waterproof. Steel decks are superior in many ways for longevity and virtualy no maintenance.

  Dog House
At R.E. Black Custom Homes, we are not limited by just providing luxury accommodations for families but, also we respect the needs of families pets. Trust us when we say these pets were satisfied customers.

  Brick Work
This demonstrates how complex brick work can add graceful elegance like this "Pierced" or "Latticed" wall. A more dramatic feature is this grand stair that when completed will have 2" thick "Limestone" stair treads that will lead down to the pool area of the home.

  Corinthian Columns
We take great pride in demonstrating how we hand fabricated these massive "Corinthian columns." The finished product reveals a stunning classical look. These columns are so solid and structurally sound they may well out last this home.

  Dome Construction
This is to show how we hand fabricate complicated architectural dome features all completely performed on site. We use this same process for fabricating barrels and coves.

  Concrete
We ensure that all concrete slabs are properly layed-out with correctly sized footings and pier holes. Then reinforced with steel and flashing is installed against structure to prevent leaking.
  Master Plan

This site plan indicates how we prefer working with firms such as Reece, Hoopes & Fincher. This extra effort ensures the home-site and dwelling are a compliment of one another. This step also helps the homeowner see more clearly the finished product before ground-breaking begins.
